Biomaterial –Mediated Gene Delivery is a technique in the early stages of development that uses gene therapy to modify stem cells (placed onto synthetic cartilage scaffolding) so that they produce a continuous supply of growth factor to support cartilage regrowth. Potential applications for regeneration of many kinds of orthopaedic tissues including cartilage, tendons, ligaments and bones.
